No, no black women in Latvia

As you all might know, I visit a friends who lives in Riga - capital of Latvia. This is the former Soviet Union. To the east of Sweden. The so-called Eastern Europe. I had hear lots of stuff about this country before my little trip there. No black citizen what so ever. And I must confess, I was in a little "shock" when I realized that this fact was almost 100% true. During my stay for like 5 days, I (listen know) saw 4 black people in the capital city of Latvia. FOUR. And listen to this. One was some jazz singer on a poster (yes, on a poster). And one was a black women (by the way, very beautiful :)) working at the cabin crew on the flight taking me back home. So that makes it 2 black people in 5 days. A woman and her child. I cant believe it. Riga is far far far the most homogene country I every visit. And Latvia is only like one hour away from Sweden. Crazy, crazy.

Guess I was kinda glad getting back home to Sweden. I realized "whoooa, there are a lot of beautiful black women in Sweden" :) I mean, in Sweden I would, if Im now comparing it to Latvia, see at least 500-1000 black people a day.

So, my advice, don't go to Latvia or the Eastern Europe! :D Come to Sweden instead!!! LOL

Glad you're back. Thanks for the tip. I've been the only BW many places, but that seems more extreme than others.

Oh my goodness, Latvia! I took a trip to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and I'm not exaggerating when I say I didn't see any other black people during my entire trip. I still enjoyed my time in all three countries, but it took a bit of time adjusting to being the only black person in town...literally.

american black chick:
Estonia is one of the Greatest Country in The planet. there is no substitute.
the most good looking sexy people both male and female live in estonia.
The most biggest percentage of natural platinum (so called "bleach" in usa) blonde and extreme light eyed females is there.
The estonian guys are not so tall as dutch or danes but they posses feminine sharp faces and athletic slightly "feminized" bodies, and its great bonus for bi-sex girls as me ;)
here some girl with the typical estonian look:

@ Blondecore: That chick in your link was completely hideous. She had blotchy, uneven skin, she was as pale and lifeless looking as death, her lips were thin, dry and completely unappealing, her hair was dead and limp and the white hair color didn't even match her uneven pink/off-white unflattering complexion. The black women on the front page of this blog kill her in looks, she can't come close to them in terms of beauty, not even a little.

This is not a surprise. The Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) and Poland are known to be quite racist. There are lots of harassment and violent attacks happening on black people in these countries, so it's not surprising that no black people want to live there. It's really disturbing that things like that is still happening in Europe in the 21st century.

I wouldn't be surprised to know you only ran into a few Black people in Latvia. But I wouldn't put the trip off too soon. As a Black person myself I think it's nice to get out and experience other cultures/countries even if it means being the only 'Brotha' or 'Sistah' in town!

WOW! One of the most racist things I've ever read! 1st of all, sorry from the Baltics that we are not attractive to immigrants. If we we get reacher, we'll surely have lots of different ethnicities. But I just can't imagine where do you take the guts to call a country with demographic crisis 'homogenous'. What kind of demographic crisis? Let me tell you - in Latvia there's so many Russians that in certain areas (Riga for example) Latvian language has become minority language and is slowly being replaced by Russian. And you call the country homogenous?? Time to reach for the dictionary.

And a reply to some comments:
Racist? Yes, there was an incident that got publicity last year in Tartu if I remember correct. And 2 years ago in Tallinn. Wow Estonia really is a nassssty racist nest. Instead of fantasizing about countries you've never even been in, let's think about Russia - where people get killed just because their complexion is darker than snow white. Watch this video and say again that Estonia is racist (nothing like this has ever happened here) http://digg.com/people/Video_Russian_Racists_violent

PS on a side note - how can you use "black pride". I can't imagine what would happen to me if I would say that I'm proud to be born white. (Doesn't sound so bad? Ok, let's rephrase it - White Pride. Suddenly you feel hatred rushing up your veins? We'll that's called a double standard.)
